Hotel La Croix (pronounced “La-Croy”) is a 192 room boutique hotel located in a historic and landmark location surrounded by two Parks (71 acre Fort DeRussy and King Kalakaua) filled with palms trees and nature yet next door from Luxury Row, Ritz Carlton, Dean & Deluca, Trump Waikiki, Hard Rock Café and BLT to name a few. La Croix, means “The Cross” (crossroads) in French is a befitting name given that it prominently sits at the gateway of Waikiki (the gateway of the Pacific) occupying the entire block fronting Kalakaua and Kuhio, the two main streets of Waikiki. Waikiki beach is a short leisurely walk across the park and nightlife, restaurants and the excitement of Waikiki are steps away.
Our goals are for our guests to experience the Island’s love + aloha. Hence, we embarked on a 3 phase design evolution to curate a truly unique Hawaiian experience for our guests. Our Phase I was to connect our Hotel and our guests with natural materials. We are the first hotel in Waikiki to have real hardwood flooring in every room so that guests could experience the island life of being connected to real wood to their feet. We also have Italian marble tops in all of our washroom vanities because we think it’s important to begin and end your day interacting with natural European stone while you freshen up or winding down. Our hallways walls are cladded with solid pieces of real wood that we individually routed piece by piece just like the Hawaiian King’s did at their beach house over 100 years ago. We are currently in Phase 2, where we are upgrading our tubs into showers and upgrading our closets and bathroom area as well as installing of new floor to ceiling glass sliding doors.
Hawaii is the only state that started as a Kingdom of all the 50 states in the U.S. We aim to pay homage to this origin by using British and European inspired beach house design ethos combined with Island architecture…something we dubbed “Hawaiian Chic.” In keeping with our culture of highlighting local artisans and sustainability, majority of the furniture have been refinished by hand, one by one by local craftsman. The irregularities and white washing were done by design to reflect a true Kamaaina beach house experience. All of these were sanded down by hand and refinished to its current look. It reminded us of the days when our parents scolded us for stone washing our Levi’s to make it look worn.
We apologize in advance if the cookie cutter plasticky approach adopted by the large hotel chains are your fix as our design and our ways are the antithesis of the cookie cutter experience. Our purpose is to provide our guests with the experience of real island living utilizing natural quality materials at each touchpoint. Unlike most newly renovated hotels, majority of our furniture are solid pieces of wood.
In the fall, we will be launching our Kalakaua Club, a members only club with saltwater infinity lounge pool with 3 separate areas, jacuzzi, Palms lounge, Parkview co-ed Sauna (only one in Waikiki), Fitness Center, Massage Therapy and VIP Sky Lounge. Registered guests will have access during their stay.
At Hotel La Croix, we are grateful of the opportunity to be the stewards of such a landmark Property. Our goals are to serve and enrich the experience of our guests from all over the world with our love + aloha. Thank you.
